GOLFING
CAMP OVERVIEW
BBSR Golf is under the direction of PGA professional Joe Simonds, the founder of Mobile Golf in the desert. This innovative program has been in operation for the past 7 years at elementary schools in the Southern California region.
A full instructional and playing experience is accomplished by using special Cayman balls (designed by Jack Nicklaus) and the on-site mobile Golf course located at the Big Bear Sports Ranch that includes a driving range and temporary greens. In addition, the local Big Bear Mountain Golf Course accommodates the campers for regular play and an end-of-camp golf tournament.
Joe Simonds Jr. Golf Camps-Mobile Golf (www.sigolfco.com) was rated by the Tiger Woods Foundation to be one of the top 3 Junior golf programs in the country.
Coaching Staff
Joe Simonds is a PGA Class A professional from Palm Springs specializing in Junior Golf. Joe is one of the founders of the Junior Golf Foundation in the Desert. Mobile Golf is becoming the fastest growing junior golf program in Southern California. His desert Golf academy offers a place for junior golfers to continue and develop their skills. Joe’s approach to teaching is based on total simplicity of mechanics accomplished with “motion training” drills to create the technicalities in the stroke and swing. This incorporates the “perfect” game to allow the golfers to achieve the highest mentality and execute at the highest level achievable. Over 1,000 youth participate in Mobile Golf each year in the Palm Springs area. His players range from 6-year old tournament players to accomplished high school players and college All-Americans. The Mobile Golf program here at the Big Bear Sports Ranch is rapidly becoming one of the more elite golf camps in the nation.
Skill Development
Everything from short game play, full swing techniques/drills, practice routines and on course play are taught. All this combined with fun and summer camp activities in one of the most comfortable summer environments in California.
