SUMMER ACTIVITY
The Big Bear Sports Ranch (BBSR) was founded in 1971 and is located in the beautiful Southern California San Bernardino Mountains. At 6,800 feet we offer a unique, clean, fresh air summer camp experience. We are only 8 miles from the Bear Mountain Resorts.
The BBSR is a pioneer in the concept of "sports oriented camps" for youth in Southern California. Our success is due to the fact that we have adapted to the changing sports interests of our campers. For 37 years, the BBSR has focused on providing children with an experience that they will remember for a lifetime. Many of our campers are the children of parents who attended camps in the 1970's and early 1980's.
It is our goal to provide each camper a wholesome instruction related sporting experience in a disciplined atmosphere where they can build character and self-esteem while having the time of their life! Our motto “JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT” is a true description of the experience the BBSR shares with campers.
WORLD CLASS FACILITIES
The
buildings and park-like grounds are meticulously maintained. Our deep
well insures that we will always be the greenest spot in Big Bear.
Located on 14 acres of land and 8 miles from the Snow Summit Ski Resort, the BBSR houses a fine selection of sports activities to its campers and visitors to include 8 hard tennis courts, 2 red clay courts, a pool, an inline hockey arena, soccer field, golf driving range, volleyball courts, basketball courts and much more.
The Ranch has 5 mountain style ski chalets and an additional main cabin utilized for dining and socializing. All cabins are 2 stories and carpeted with a fireplace. At full summer capacity, in dormitory style setting within the cabins, the BBSR accommodates approximately 200 students and staff. In the non-summer season the facility is available for group rentals and with a revamped "semi-dorm" type housing arrangement, the BBSR can still accommodate up to 120 guests.
WORLD CLASS INSTRUCTION
Our
co-educational facility attracts athletes from around the world ranging
in age from 7 to 16.
The directors of each session are all professional and are experts in their sport. They have spent years training to reach the upper levels of coaching. Check out our staff qualifications here.
BBSR provides our camper the best in sports instruction though a variety of established national programs, along with our own in-camp coaches.
Programs run Sunday through Saturday. Coaches meet with their campers on Sunday afternoon to do an assessment and plan their week of coaching.
We take great pride in the quality and experience of our instructors, counselors and staff.
